Hi friends!
I’m linking up with Doodle Bugs Teaching to
share about my lazy summer week! That’s right, my first week of nothing but
lounging. #HelloSummerFun
1. I'M MOVING
First, I want to make sure that you’re aware that I’m moving. Well, not like moving truck moving. I’m moving within the blogosphere (as my husband likes to call it). I’ve renamed my blog as you can see above, but my address will also be different. If you still like me and want to continue receiving updates on Bloglovin’, click the button below to follow me at my new address. I’ll still keep this address active, so if you visit Super Sparkly in Second you’ll be redirected to my new address.
2. I HEART BOOKS
Eek! Check out all the books I got! Um… 76 to be exact. I love shopping the Scholastic
Warehouse Sale in the summer. You get the best deals on these books
since most are at least 50% off. I always do a Build-a-Box, which costs $25. My
husband stuffed so many books in there. Hardcovers, chapter books, picture
books, you name it. It’s the best deal ever! Then, I shopped the rest of
the warehouse and picked up other titles for 50% off. Some of the more popular
books were only 20% off, but I thought Pete the Cat was popular among first
graders. So I couldn’t resist. In the end I spent less about $85! Of course, I
hadn’t intended to spend that much, but I really needed to stock my new first
grade library.
I’ve been working on a new pack over the past
two weeks (yes, I’m slow). I’m super excited because it includes ice cream.
It’s warm over here in California, so we’ve been eating a lot of ice cream in
this house. Don’t worry; I’m working hard to burn the calories. Anyways…
it came to me one night…
a doubles pack with an ice cream theme! And MAKE IT A DOUBLE was born! I’ve
been thinking of a multitude of ways for students to practice creating, sorting
and subitizing doubles. I can't wait to wrap this up and post it on TpT.
As I mentioned we’ve been eating lots of ice
cream. During the school year, I really neglected myself. Gulp! I just can’t
seem to find the time to squeeze in a workout. So… I’ve been working it
out. The elliptical has come out of the corner it was shoved into and placed right
in the bedroom. I had space for it in the other room, but I rarely go in
there. Although it uglies up my bedroom, I am using it daily because it’s right
there! I’ve also been using the 30Days app (free). Who doesn’t like a
challenge? I’m finished the squat challenge and am now trying the plank
challenge, which I had to set to easy because I was never going to make it to
day 3!
5. TAKE ME AWAY

Summer means I have time to go places! Yipee!
This girl is super committed to teaching during the school year, so it’s nice
to have time to relax. I’ll be heading to the coast pretty soon. For Mother’s
Day I gave my mom and mother-in-law a promise of a girls getaway to a beach resort (and a massage). The three of us will be heading down in a week! I’m so excited!!
My husband says I need the trip as much they do, because I can’t seem to sit still. I
think my inability to relax is beginning to drive him cuh-razy! I have a
million things on my to-do list and I want to make sure I finish everything. Do you make crazy lists during the summer?
Um… side note: I just
realized my 1st Bloggy Birthday was 5 days ago! I’m not sure how I
missed that. I’ll have to figure out something soon! Stay tuned!
Enjoy your weekend friends!
I just downloaded the 30 days app! Oh, and I can still edit, even if its 1st grade stuff!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! ^_^ And thanks! I hadn''t even thought about that. I'm still trying to wrap my head around this grade level change.

Thanks! As for the beach... I can't wait! Now, it's time to find a hat to shade me from the sun.

Your blog is adorable! And I know exactly what you mean...I am constantly writing down things I want to do, product ideas, and classroom ideas like a crazy woman. I have like a million notes and voice memos on my iPhone. Good to know I'm not the only one! Trying to make myself relax so I can fully go on vacation next week :)

Congrats on the move! Have fun in first :) My husband says the same thing about me, I can't sit still and it drives him MAD!
ReplyDeletePS. Happy blogiversary!
Thanks Sparkly friend! I've gotten really used to second graders, but I can't wait to try something new.
