June Currently

I’m thrilled to be linking up with Farley from Oh Boy 4th Grade (it’s been way too long). I’ve been terrible about keeping up my blog.

I’ve been watching the Finals with my husband. I’ve kind of become a freak about basketball thanks to my husband.

I’m so happy I can finally relax! If you read my last post or follow on IG, you might have heard that Friday was my last day. As sad as I was to leave I’m glad I can finally breathe and be normal.

Next year, is going to be so different as I navigate a new school and grade level. It was my idea to move to first, but I’m still a little scared now it’s going to become a reality. I already have some summer PD lined up though. My biggest concern is literacy since there seems to be more of a focus on decoding, rather than reading comprehension. Of course, I have had plenty of experience working with students in the same range. I have to remind myself that I’m only moving one grade level and not to worry. Sometimes, I worry too much and second-guess my abilities.

I would love to organize all the stuff I brought home with me! Holy cow! I put everything in my teacher room and it is jam-packed. So much for putting that room together this summer! I’m hoping to organize the boxes so I can move around in there at least. All of my crafting and Smashbook goodies are in there.

I’m headed to the TpT conference next month!! Are you going? I really need to book a room before everything fills up. I did book my first Cirque du soleil show though! Super excited! What are your favorite things to do in Vegas?

#1 I can finally get to work on my summer bucket list! Hooray! Teaching is definitely my passion. During the school year I pretty much dedicate myself to my profession. Of course, there is good and bad in this. I really neglect my home, so it sure needs me during the summer. We built our home and moved into it 2 ½ years ago, yet we have no photos up. Yikes! I always joke that it could be anyone’s home because of how few pictures there are around the house. My goal is to put up a gallery wall in the entryway full of pictures and artwork that we have. I hope I can fill it up (it’s a long hallway). #2 I would love to read a good book for leisure. This NEVER happens during the school year. I can never seem to find enough time. Perhaps Divergent or Legend. Do you read during the school year? Do you read during the school year? If so, how do you fit it into your schedule? #3 Again, since I’m moving to first I would like to look over the curriculum get some planning done this summer. That’ll help ease some of the butterflies.

Stay tuned! I’ll keep you posted on my progress. ^_^

January Currently- Hello 2014

Happy New Year friends! It's a new month and a new year. I had an amazing 2013 and am looking forward to making 2014 even better. I want to continue growing personally and professionally.

I’m linking up with Farley at Oh Boy 4th Grade to share my January Currently. I love being about to briefly blab about what I’m up to.

Listening: To the Brady Bunch. I recorded a bunch of episodes to watch when there’s nothing on. There’s something about this wholesome show that I’ve loved since I was a kid.

Loving: I have 12 more days of Winter Break! I am ecstatic that there are still days to fill with family, blogging, and scrapbooking.

Thinking: 2013 was filled with many wonderful memories. I launched this little blog. My hubby and I became godparents to our friends’ adorable son, were in our best friends’ wedding, and went to Disneyland THREE times. I turned 30…What?!

Wanting: I would love to complete everything on my to-do list. This usually doesn’t happen because I make an impossible list every time. It includes random chores, projects, and lots of fun activities.

Needing: I REALLY need to write a paper for the PD course I signed up for in July. It’s only 5-7 pages. I think I can. I think I can…

Memory: I have been so fortunate to be able to spend quality time with my husband. He is truly one of my best friends. We have been very blessed and were fortunate to be able to enjoy a long Winter Break together. He’ll go back to work on Monday, but not before we enjoy one more adventure in SoCal.

Currently in July

I'm kind of on the late show here, but it's only July 3rd and I really wanted to link up with Farley! I spotted her linky parties multiple times on Pinterest before launching my blog, so I'm SUPER excited to be able to link up. I can not believe July is here. Ugh! I'm not ready! This means I've been out of school for almost 4 weeks! Where'd those days go?

Kathy Lee and Hoda....those 2 gals are so silly! Don't tell them, but their drinking sometimes scares me.

It's extremely important to have a working AC here in central California because this heat is just ABSURD! The projected high is 110! I did run some errands yesterday, but am definitely staying in today.

I love summer time because that means I have time to hang out with my AMAZING husband (I promise you'll hear more about how fabulous he is in the future)! We've been breaking out the board games. We brought over a lot of his childhood games when we moved into our home. Yes, he still has his old board games (and ninja turtles and action figures and books and ... you know how that goes). Anyways, I'd never played Uno. So he taught me how to play Disney Uno. I think it's time we buy some new grown up versions of these board games.

I won a Calendar Notebook from Smiling in Second Grade!! It's a 2-for-1 kind of deal (calendar & notebook)! Yeay! It's one of the MANY items I had on my Wishlist. I'm hoping to print it and put it together this weekend. I can't wait to share more about it once it's put together.

I'm supposed to be reading Reading for Meaning (Debbie Miller). I chose this book for professional development purposes, but I'm also receiving course credit for it. Of course, I have to read the book in order to write a paper about it. Unfortunately, I set it down last week and haven't had any desire to pick it back up.

My tip: Always make sure to leave thoughtful or meaningful feedback. This goes for blogging and TpT.
TpT: I think it's important to leave feedback that may be helpful to the seller. Is there something they should keep doing? Or something that may have been even more helpful it were changed or added?
Blogging: I think it's important to make connections with others, the authors and each other. Don't forget to share an opinion or something you found relatable. Okay, I hope that didn't come across as a lecture. It's really about connecting with others. ^_^

Well, I'm off for now. Happy hump day!
